KARACHI: White ice worth crores of rupees has been recovered from Jinnah International Airport thwarting an attempt to smuggle drugs.
According to the details, four kilograms of white ice was recovered from the parcel sent to Bahrain. The parcel was booked for Bahrain by a man named Mirza Asad from Karachi. The drugs were skillfully hidden in tons of dried fruits.
The ice is worth more than Rs 40 million. During another operation, airport officials recovered smuggled goods from passengers arriving from abroad, including mobile phones, gold, alcohol, garments, and contraband electronics.
The smuggled goods worth more than Rs 10 million were recovered from the passengers. Two accused have also been arrested during the operation.
According to officials, further action has been initiated after a case was registered against both the accused.
