ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) has quashed the decision of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to hand over the BRT project to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to details, an appeal was heard in the Supreme Court against the decision of the Peshawar High Court regarding the BRT project. A three-member bench headed by Justice Omar Atabandial heard the case.
Justice Omar Atabandial said that it is alleged that the cost of BRT was more than the estimate. It is alleged that the flyovers and underpasses were not standardized. In many places, the width of the road was less.
Justice Umar Atabandial further said that you are a public office holder, these allegations have to be answered, there are flaws in the order of the Peshawar High Court to conduct the investigation through NAB.
The Supreme Court annulled the decision to hand over the BRT project to the NAB and sought a report on the increase in the cost of the BRT project and substandard constructions.
The court extended the stay order on the appeals of the provincial government, Peshawar Development Authority on BRT and stayed the FIA investigation till the next hearing, after which the hearing of the BRT case was adjourned for a month.
It may be recalled that the Peshawar High Court had decided to hand over the BRT project to the NAB.
