ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has called on the Foreign Ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain and congratulated them on resolving the disputes in the Gulf states and on successful GCC talks in Saudi Arabia.
According to details, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi contacted his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan to discuss bilateral relations between the two Foreign Ministers and other issues including efforts to resolve disputes in the GCC countries.
The Foreign Minister appreciated the role of Saudi Arabia in resolving the disputes in Qatar and the Gulf countries and congratulated his Saudi counterpart on holding the KJC Summit.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi appreciated the readiness of the Gulf states to resolve their long-standing disputes while the two Foreign Ministers held consultations on promoting cooperation at the international level.
The Foreign Minister thanked Saudi Arabia for its resolutions on Kashmir and Islamophobia and agreed to continue consultations between the Foreign Ministers on important regional and global issues.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood said that he was looking forward to the arrival of the Saudi Foreign Minister in Pakistan.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi contacts Qatari Foreign Minister
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi telephoned Qatar’s Foreign Minister Muhammad bin Abdul Rahman. The Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral relations and resolving disputes in the Gulf countries.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi congratulated his Qatari counterpart on the positive response to the Gulf conflict and also congratulated Al-Ala on the successful meeting of the GCC in Saudi Arabia.
The Foreign Minister said that the successful meeting would promote an atmosphere of trust and cooperation among the Gulf countries and hoped that the law and order situation in the region would improve. He said that Pakistan wanted good relations with all the Gulf countries.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed the promotion of cooperation between Pakistan and Qatar in various fields.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi telephoned the Foreign Minister of Bahrain
Shah Mehmood Qureshi also had a telephone conversation with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdul Latif Al-Zayani. The two Foreign Ministers discussed bilateral relations, mutual interests, and diplomatic efforts to resolve long-standing disputes in the Gulf countries.
The Foreign Minister appreciated the positive thinking of the Gulf states in resolving their disputes and termed it as an encouraging step for peace and stability in the region.
The Foreign Minister said that the successful GCC talks were held in Saudi Arabia on January 5, and the successful talks would restore the atmosphere of trust among the GCC member countries and promote cooperation among the Gulf states.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi thanked the Bahraini Foreign Minister for his support at the 47th OIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and for his support to the resolutions on Kashmir and Islamophobia.
The Foreign Ministers also discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields and agreed to continue consultations on important regional and global issues, while agreeing to adopt a joint strategy on issues of mutual interest at the global level.
