ISLAMABAD: The former Prime Minister and Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s telethon campaign for the flood victims collected more than 5.5 billion rupees in two and a half hours.
Imran Khan while speaking said that country is going through a difficult time, the whole country is affected due to floods, and that’s why we have decided that the whole country should face this situation together.
He said that we are building a control room through which the volunteers will be guided and directed so that the volunteers can reach the affected people.The former prime minister said that there are reports of more than 1,000 deaths, while it has been estimated financially that more than Rs. 1,000 billion have been lost due to floods.
Imran Khan said that he has seen the nation helping the victims in the 2010 flood, and even in this difficult time, the entire nation is with the flood victims and will help them fully.
He said that whatever funds will be received will be spent under the leadership of Sania Nishtar. Our aim is that whatever funds are collected will be spent on the flood victims.
Politicians, artists, and well-known personalities participated in PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s telethon campaign, including Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi, former cricketer Inzamam-ul-Haq, actress Atiqa Odhu, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Javed Sheikh, Shan Shahid, writer Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar, singer Salman Ahmed, Abrarul Haque and others were included.
In the telethon campaign, more than 5.5 billion rupees were collected in just two and a half hours.
The President and CEO of ARY Network, Salman Iqbal, has announced a donation of Rs.3 crore. The Senior journalist Sabir Shakir also announced five lakh rupees as an aid to the flood victims.
The family of PTI leader Ali Zaidi announced a donation of Rs 10 lakh, his 9-year-old niece donated Rs 50,000 to the cause, while his friends in the US announced a donation of 50,000 dollars.
Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Shehryar Afridi has also announced Rs. 1.5 billion.
An overseas Pakistani donated 10 lakh rupees without giving his name, while a Pakistani from America announced a donation of 22 crore rupees.
Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Tanveer Ilyas has announced to give 30 million rupees as aid to the flood victims, and British-born Pakistani boxer Aamir Khan has also announced to give 5 million rupees as aid.
In Imran Khan’s telethon campaign, another overseas Pakistani donated five million rupees to the flood victims.
A Pakistani citizen canceled his Umrah program and announced to donate one million rupees to the flood victims.
Pakistani citizen Adnan Asad gave two hundred and five million rupees aid to the flood victims, Imran Khan said that Adnan Asad is my classmate, and the Election Commission has called him for foreign funding.
At the end of the telethon campaign, renowned religious scholar Tariq Jameel prayed that Allah averts this calamity soon and that the damage caused by this flood can be compensated soon.
