KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The terrorist received training in sabotage from Afghanistan.

According to details, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested Zakirullah alias Shafiullah, a key commander of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), officials said.

CTD officials said that two accomplices of the arrested terrorist were shot dead by FC personnel. The terrorist transferred 60 rocket launchers from Mohmand to Afghanistan in 2011 along with his accomplices.

The CTD said that in 2012, terrorist Zakirullah and his associates targeted FC personnel in Bajaur while coming from Afghanistan, they killed two people in 2014 and then fled there.

It may be recalled that in November 2020, Rangers and police in a joint operation arrested three terrorists of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The arrested terrorists included Yaseen, Ikramullah alias Faisal and Muhammad Khalid alias Omar, who had nefarious intentions in the city.

Rangers had said that two of them had recently come from Afghanistan. The terrorists wanted to carry out an operation in Karachi. The accused belonged to the banned TTP commander Saad Bilal alias Humayun’s group.
