Opposition alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has postponed a long march against the government after PPP showed its reservation over the issue of resignations.

After the PDM summit, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, head of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam and Opposition Alliance, came for a press conference.

Talking to the media, the PDM chief said that Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, Dr. Jamaluddin participated in the summit through video link and the agenda of the meeting was related to the long march on March 26.

He said that 9 parties were in favor of linking the resignations with the Long March and the PPP had reservations about this thinking. The PPP has asked for time to refer the matter to the party’s Central Executive Committee and then We will inform the PDM of our decision.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that we have given a chance to PPP and we will wait for their decision so the long march of March 26 should be considered postponed till the response of PPP.

With this announcement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman left the press conference incomplete. Maryam Nawaz also called Maulana Fazlur Rehman but he walked back.

Later talking to the media, in response to a question regarding the decision of PPP to resign, Maryam Nawaz said that until the PPP comes back and responds, it cannot speculate.

She said that PDM is visible in front of you and in practice, the government will end.

It may be recalled that the opposition alliance had announced a long march against the government on March 26.
