ISLAMABAD: The Prime Minister has taken another step for the betterment of Pakistan Railways by ordering the immediate installation of electricity meters in railway colonies.
According to sources, Prime Minister Imran Khan took notice of the lack of electricity meters in the railway colonies and immediately ordered the immediate installation of 25,000 electricity meters in the railway colonies.
According to sources, a report was submitted to the Prime Minister on the non-installation of electricity meters in the railway colonies. The loss of electricity is Rs 2.5 billion annually, railway employees have been using electricity for years and the financial burden is falling on the railways.
In the report submitted to the Prime Minister, WAPDA and railway officials came to an agreement on the damage done to the railways. Expressing strong anger over the report, PM Imran Khan directed that installation of meters in railway colonies should be started from today and this process should be completed in four months. He also set up a coordination committee to monitor the issue of electricity meters. Kurdish and an official from the Prime Minister’s Office have been appointed coordinators of the electricity meters.
The Prime Minister said that every penny of the treasury is the trust of the nation.
