KARACHI: An inquiry committee has been set up by the government to probe major power breakdowns in the country.

According to details, the government has set up an inquiry committee to find out the cause of power breakdown across Pakistan. Seven officers and employees of Guddu Thermal Power have been suspended.

Central Power Generation Company says that plant manager Sohail Ahmed, junior engineer Dildar Ali Channa has been suspended, a notification has also been issued by the company.

According to the notification, foreman Ali Hassan Golo, operator Ayaz Hussain, Saeed Ahmed, attendant Siraj Ahmed and attendant Ilyas Ahmed have been suspended.

Central Power Generation says that suspended officers and employees will ensure daily attendance. Due to the negligence of these officers and employees, a power breakdown took place.

Why was there a breakdown across the country? Efforts are still being made at the government level to find out the reasons behind this. Federal Minister for Energy Omar Ayub had said today that the fault did not occur inside the walls of Guddu Power Plant, but outside, for which a pool-to-pool search is being sought.

Omar Ayub says this is the first time such tripping has taken place, the system has been activated, now an independent inquiry will be conducted.
