ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that overseas Pakistanis sent $2.27 billion in remittances in January, more than $2 billion in remittances for eight consecutive months.
In a statement released on the social networking site Twitter, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that remittances were 19 percent higher than in January 2020, with an overall increase of 24 percent in the current financial year.
He said that overseas Pakistanis sent $2027 billion in remittances in January and remittances have been reaching more than $2 billion for eight consecutive months.
The Prime Minister said that remittances have increased to a record level in the history of the country. I am very grateful to the overseas Pakistanis.
Imran Khan said in his tweet that the industrial sector is also developing, production has increased by 11.4% compared to December 2019.
Prime Minister Imran Khan further said that the overall increase from July to December 2020 was 8%.
Good news from industrial sector also, showing sustained growth. Large scale manufacturing saw another double digit growth month in December 2020 – 11.4% growth vs Dec 2019. Cumulative July to Dec growth above 8% now.
