ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has termed the report of the Foreign Ministry on the application for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui as unsatisfactory and directed the Deputy Attorney General to submit a detailed report.

According to details, the petition filed for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui was heard in the Islamabad High Court. Justice Amir Farooq heard the case. Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui appeared in the court along with her lawyer Sajid Qureshi. Raja Khalid Mahmood appeared.

Deputy Attorney General submitted a detailed report of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Justice Amir Farooq asked the Deputy Attorney General what was in the report? On which the Deputy Attorney General said that the report contains Dr. Aafia’s health, counselor access, and other things.

Justice Amir Farooq asked if the government of Pakistan had any talk with the US government. The responsible officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should come and tell what the government has done, it is the responsibility of the state to provide protection to every citizen.

Justice Amir Farooq asked who was looking into the issue on behalf of the Foreign Ministry. This case was in the court of Dr. Noor-ul-Haq Qureshi 4 years ago, they are still standing where they were 4 years ago.

The court directed Deputy Attorney General Raja Khalid Mahmood to submit a detailed report and appear before the Joint Foreign Secretary in person.
The case was adjourned till February 10.
