ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has given its opinion on the presidential reference related to the Senate elections.
The Supreme Court in its opinion has said that the Senate elections are subject to the Constitution and therefore these elections will be held in accordance with the Constitution.
According to Geo News, the Supreme Court has given this opinion from one to four, while Supreme Court Judge Justice Yahya Afridi will express his opinion in writing separately.
The court said in its opinion that Senate elections cannot be held by open ballot so these elections will be held under the constitution instead of law.
The Supreme Court in its opinion said that the Election Commission can take all steps for transparent elections, it is the responsibility of the Election Commission to eradicate corruption from the electoral process, all institutions are bound to cooperate with the Election Commission. The Election Commission can also use all technology to eradicate corruption.
The Supreme Court has said that the Election Commission has the power to take action against corrupt practices, all executive authorities are bound to co-operate with the Election Commission, the Election Commission should take all measures to prevent corruption under 218-III.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the court has now issued a brief verdict and detailed reasons will be issued later.
The Hon’ble Chief Justice said that the Supreme Court has ruled in its judgment that secrecy can never be absolute and the vote cannot be secret forever, it is the job of the Election Commission to determine the extent of secrecy in voting.

Talking to media outside the court, PTI leader Faisal Javed said that the decision of the court was welcome and strong, the Attorney General and his entire team worked hard and strong arguments were given, people found out for the first time that What has happened before in the Senate elections?
He said that crores of rupees were spent on corruption in the Senate elections. He said that Imran Khan had made every effort to eradicate corruption from all levels and to eradicate bribery from the Senate elections as Imran Khan also dismissed those who took the money.
Faisal Javed said that the court has said that the Senate elections cannot remain secret, it has directed the Election Commission in this regard, it has come up with a strong opinion for transparency.
It is to be noted that the government had filed a presidential reference to hold the Senate elections by open ballot while the Senate elections in the country will be held on March 3.
