Staff Suspended over Musical Function in Balakot Girls School

According to the Dawn Newspaper, the music function was organized by a group at the school.

Deputy Commissioner Mansehra District formed a committee headed by Assistant Commissioner Balakot to investigate the matter.

The committee also includes education department officials who will investigate the matter and take strict action.

The development came as residents met the deputy commissioner in his office and demanded action against the school administration and event organizers.

Dr. Qasim Ali Khan said such music functions could be allowed in government schools and colleges, especially for women.

It may be recalled that in January this year, the beautification of female students at Hazara University was banned and a dress code was made mandatory.

The university’s statement said that the use of make-up and jewelry by female students was banned inside the university while the wearing of fitted jeans by students was also banned.

Students were also banned from wearing long hair and fancy beards.

Earlier in 2017, in addition to smoking at Bacha Khan University, boys and girls were banned from hanging out together and students from wearing chadors.
