ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet has suggested to the Prime Minister that it is time to take strict action against foreign-funded NGOs. The Prime Minister of Pakistan said that he has also received reports regarding such NGOs.
According to details, a meeting of the federal cabinet was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan today. Cabinet sources said that the revelations of EUD Info Lab were discussed in the meeting.
In the meeting, the Cabinet proposed to the Prime Minister to take decisive action against the NGOs working on foreign agendas.
According to cabinet sources, the federal ministers told the prime minister in the meeting that it was time for a decision and strict action should be taken on the issue. Many NGOs in Pakistan operate without registration and seek foreign funding.
The Prime Minister was informed that unregistered foreign-funded NGOs were pursuing their agenda within the country. Following the proposal in the meeting, the Prime Minister convened an important meeting on such NGOs yesterday.
The meeting will be attended by the Minister for Economic Affairs, Foreign Minister, Information Minister, National Security Adviser, and other federal ministers. Cabinet sources said that the Prime Minister has sought details of funding and registration of unregistered NGOs.
Sources also said that the Home Ministry had recently received complaints against foreign-funded unregistered NGOs.
