Sources said that the Prime Minister was informed in the briefing that the Senate election case is also pending in the Supreme Court and the schedule for the Senate election will be released on February 11.

It may be recalled that an ordinance was prepared by the government to conduct the Senate elections by open ballot. The draft ordinance was prepared by Attorney General Khalid Javed. Sources said that the Senate election open ballot ordinance has been made subject to a court decision.
Two days ago, Federal Law Minister Forough Naseem had introduced a bill in the National Assembly in connection with the open ballot. He had said that the bill is to hold the Senate election through the open ballot. The sole purpose of presenting it in the National Assembly is to prevent the buying and selling of members of the Assembly in the Senate elections.
