ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Shibli Faraz has said that the opposition’s talks on the FATF bill were only for their own personal interests.

Addressing an important news conference in Islamabad, the Information Minister made important revelations to the public, saying that the opposition’s talks on the FATF Bill were for their own good.

Explaining the details in a news conference, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz said that he was a member of the committee negotiating on the FATF Bill, which was chaired by Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

When the meeting started, the first question from the opposition was where is the NAB bill? Shah Mehmood said that the NAB bill will be negotiated later, the opposition said that no, the NAB bill will be negotiated first.

Shibli Faraz said that the opposition had sought amendments in 34 out of 38 clauses of the NAB. The opposition had sought an NRO from the government by bringing the NAB Bill as opposed to the FATF Bill, demanding that all cases be disposed of since 1999. Parliamentary leaders walked out of the meeting.

Proposal not to take NAB action on less than one billion corruption

He said that the opposition had demanded the implementation of NAB rules since 1999. The aim of 1999 was to make all the corruption committed by that time lawful. Another suggestion was that NAB could not take action on corruption less than Rs 1 billion. The opposition also moved an amendment to remove money laundering as a crime.

The Information Minister said that the Prime Minister often says that he will not give NR, the people should know what is the background of this NR. The opposition claims that we did not ask for NRO. The fourth proposal was to exclude the wife and children from anonymous law.

Proposal to remove money laundering as a crime

The opposition suggested that money laundering should be removed as a crime. Shahbaz Sharif, Zardari, and Faryal Talpur are the beneficiaries of the money laundering proposal. The opposition suggested that money laundering should not be considered a crime. Opposition members called for the expulsion of children and their wives.

He said that these people are targeting important institutions and putting pressure on NRs. The opposition does not care about the law nor the lives of the people. Their aim is to hide their corruption. These are corrupt and incompetent people. Tried to cut on but failed.

Shibli Faraz said that these people say that we did not ask for NRA, the opposition asked for NRA in case of NAB amendment which we did not give, the opposition is working to remove the democratic government, on the one hand, respect the vote. On the other hand, his cabinet is undemocratic. He had been asleep for two years, hoping that the NRO would be found.
