ISLAMABAD: Five ATS personnel have been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a youth by ATS personnel. A case will be registered on the request of the family members.

According to details, a firing incident took place in Islamabad G-Ten, where a youth riding in a car was shot dead by ATS personnel.

Police said that night they received a call that the robbers on a vehicle were trying to rob in Shams Colony. ATS police personnel on patrol chased the suspicious vehicle. Police tried to stop the vehicle with tinted windows. The driver did not stop the vehicle.

A police spokesman said that the police chased the vehicle up to 10 barges and fired at the tires of the vehicle for not stopping. Unfortunately, two fire engines hit the driver, killing him.

According to police sources, five ATS personnel who opened fire on the vehicle have been arrested and shifted to Ramna police station while postmortem of the deceased has been completed.

Police say the case will be registered after a request from the family.

IG Islamabad has ordered immediate investigation into the incident, after which a team headed by DIG has been formed.
