According to media reports, users of WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger are having difficulty sending and receiving messages due to the service being affected.
Instagram service was also affected and users suffered a 5xx Server Error.
Within minutes, thousands of people on the down detector reported that WhatsApp and Instagram services were affected.

According to the website, more than 1.2 million users reported that the Instagram service was affected, while more than 23,000 people complained that the WhatsApp service was affected.
According to the foreign news agency ‘Reuters’, Facebook did not initially make a statement when contacted.
The Down Detector said the service was affected at 5:30 pm global time, but only half an hour later, several WhatsApp users said on social media that they could now send messages.
