Former Pakistan cricket captain and well-known commentator Rameez Raja will take over as the next chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Rameez Raja has been informed by the Prime Minister’s House staff about his appointment.
It may be recalled that rumors had been circulating for the past several days that the tenure of the current chairman PCB Ehsan Mani would not be extended and the post would be given to Rameez Raja in his place.
These speculations intensified when on August 23, Prime Minister Imran Khan met current PCB chairman Ehsan Mani and Rameez Raja.
Rameez Raja while confirming the decision to appoint PC as the chairman said that he has been informed by the Prime Minister’s House.
The Prime Minister will soon issue a notification for the appointment of Rameez Raja to the Governing Board and a few days later elections will be held in the PCB in which he will be formally elected Chairman.
It may be recalled that Ehsan Mani’s three-year tenure ended yesterday.
According to sources, in a meeting with the Prime Minister, he had asked for a second term to complete the “incomplete” tasks, but the Prime Minister had expressed anger over the poor performance of the national team during his visit to England.
It may be recalled here that 3 years ago, the Prime Minister had appointed Ehsan Mani as a member of the Board of Governors of the PCB and he was elected Chairman of the PCB in September 2018 after the resignation of Najam Sethi.
