Portugal’s Cristina Ronaldo has turned down an offer of €6 million to boost tourism in Saudi Arabia.

According to a foreign news agency, the 35-year-old striker of the Italian football club Juventus was offered £5.3 million a year by Saudi Arabia. Under the deal, Ronaldo was to make a series of trips to Saudi Arabia, the images of which were to be used to promote tourism in Saudi Arabia.

The report claims that Ronaldo’s rival Lionel Messi of Barcelona was also contacted by Saudi Arabia, but neither Ronaldo nor Messi’s representatives spoke to the media on the matter.

It should be noted that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is working to develop the oil-rich country’s economy, which aims to minimize Saudi Arabia’s dependence on fuel, while the promotion of tourism in Saudi Arabia is the most important part of King Salman’s Vision 2030.

Last month, FIFA president Gianni Infantino worked on a promotional video for the Saudi government, but this is not the first time that celebrities have turned down an offer.

Portugal and Juventus striker Cristiano Ronaldo holds the record for most goals in the history of football, having been named the “Golden Foot” by Cristina Ronaldo in December last year. This award is given to any footballer once in a lifetime.
