ISLAMABAD: The sixth Begum Kulsoom Saifullah Khan National Championship held at the Pakistan Tennis Federation headquarters has come to an end. In the singles, doubles men’s and ladies events, the final went to Muzammil Murtaza, Sara Mehboob, Mahmood, and Azeem Khan.
According to the details, the 6th Begum Kulsoom Saifullah Khan National Championship men’s event was named after Muzammil Murtaza, Sarah Mehboob won the title in ladies while the pair of Mahmood Khan and Azeem Khan became the champion in the seniors doubles final.
Muzammil Murtaza clinched the title by defeating veteran Aqeel Khan 2-1 in the men’s event final of this year’s final ranking championship held at the courts of Pakistan Tennis Federation in Islamabad. Muzammil won the first set 7-6 at tiebreaker point, the second set 3-6, and the third and decisive set 6-4.
In the ladies’ singles final, top seed Sara Mehboob remained strong and became the champion by defeating Ashna Sohail by a margin of 2-1.

Sarah Mehboob won the first set by a tiebreaker with seven sixes, in the second set Ashna Sohail reduced the score to seven fives with a low back, but in the third and decisive set, Sarah performed well and won by six fours.
In the seniors’ doubles event, the pair of Mehboob Khan and Azeem Khan performed brilliantly based on experience and won the championship by defeating former Davis Cup players Rashid Malik and Fayyaz Khan.
ATN Chief Financial Officer Iman Ismail and Anwar Saifullah Khan attended the closing ceremony as special guests and distributed prizes among the successful players.
