BEIJING: Authorities confiscated thousands of products after a food company in China confirmed the coronavirus in ice cream.

According to a report by a foreign news agency, Authorities have confiscated thousands of products following the discovery of the coronavirus in ice cream produced by a North Chinese food company.

The food company sent ice cream samples to the municipal center this week, and all of them tested positive for corona.

Epidemiological investigations show that the raw materials used by the company to make the ice cream batch include milk powder imported from New Zealand and yogurt powder imported from Ukraine.

In this regard, Dr. Stephen Griffin, a virologist at the University of Leeds, said: “We need not be afraid of this, this may have been due to some human contact.”

He said there was a possibility that this was due to a problem in the production plant and it could also be related to hygiene in the factory.

Regarding the presence of coronavirus on ice cream, he said that ice cream contains fat when it is kept at a very low temperature and that is probably why the virus was easily alive on its surface.
