Kuwait City: Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah has tendered his resignation to the Emir of Kuwait.

According to international media reports, the Prime Minister of Kuwait Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah today tendered his resignation to the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Earlier in the day, Kuwaiti ministers and cabinet members submitted their resignations to the prime minister following tensions over administrative matters. The resignations included all members of the cabinet, including Kuwait’s deputy prime minister and defense minister.

According to media reports, members of the Assembly resigned from their posts in protest over the formation of a new cabinet and government structure. There was a motion to question the Prime Minister.

It may be recalled that the resignation of the cabinet formed on December 14 was expected after a resolution was tabled in Parliament earlier this month. The resolution was passed by 30 members of the Assembly in the first session of the House on January 5. The Prime Minister was asked various questions regarding national challenges, economic decline, and the reason for the defeat in the elections. The Prime Minister was to answer all the questions raised by the members of the Assembly in the Assembly session on January 19.

According to media reports, it is not clear whether the Emir of Kuwait, whose decision in state affairs is final, will accept the resignation of the cabinet.
